Dog training, cat nutrition, and veterinary-minded pet care in Denver
Yellow Lead helps households with dog training, puppy socialization, feline nutrition, and senior-pet routines. We are reward-based, veterinary-minded, and unimpressed by TV-trainer theatrics. Denver and remote video follow-ups.
How Yellow Lead works
Dog training is a skill: leash manners, recall, crate, and a dog who can exist in a brewery patio without becoming a scene. We use reinforcement, management, and a plan for the adolescent months people call 'stubborn.' No e-collars as a personality.
Cats are not small dogs. Nutrition, litter, and medical red flags get their own track. Senior pets — arthritis, kidneys, dental — get environment changes and a vet partnership, not a supplement stack from a Facebook ad. Pet insurance is a spreadsheet we will go through so you buy a policy before the ACL, not after.
Owners arrive from Rover sitters, Chewy orders, and PetMD tabs at 1 a.m. We are the studio that will tell you when it is a training problem and when you need a veterinarian this week.
What we actually do
Puppy socialization
Windows, not a packed group of 12 weeks of chaos. Vaccines respected. People and surfaces, not just other puppies.
Leash and recall
City sidewalks, Front Range trails, and a recall you will actually bet a squirrel on.
Behavior consults
Reactivity, resource guarding, and separation. We screen for pain before we write a protocol.
Feline nutrition and home setup
Weight, urinary, and enrichment for indoor cats. Litter math. Fewer mystery vomits.
Senior pet plans
Ramps, pain conversations with your vet, and feeding that a 12-year-old dog will still eat.
Pet insurance office hours
Accident vs wellness, waiting periods, and the breed exclusions people miss. We do not sell policies.
Guides from the studio
These are the pieces we keep on the homepage because they are the questions people ask in the first meeting.
- 01
The first 90 days with a puppy in an apartment
Potty, crate, bite inhibition, and the walk that is not a circus.
- 02
Recall on Front Range trails
Long line, rewards, and when off-leash is a fantasy.
- 03
Reactivity: management before manners
Distance, triggers, and why flooding makes it worse.
- 04
Indoor cat weight and urinary health
Calories, water, and the fountain that is not a toy.
- 05
Senior dogs: stairs, sleep, and when limping is a vet day
We are trainers. Pain is medical.
- 06
Pet insurance before the expensive year
How we compare deductibles without a sales pitch.
- 07
Choosing a sitter: Rover questions we would ask
Meds, crate, and the walk length you are actually paying for.
- 08
Food: what 'veterinary diet' means and what it does not
Marketing, AAFCO, and when we shut up and follow the DVM.
The landscape we work in
Yellow Lead is not these publications — we read them, send clients to them, and sit in the same niche. If you already follow this beat, you already know the names.
- PetMDthe 1 a.m. medical explainers owners arrive clutching
- The Spruce Petscare how-tos we send for the basics of housing and gear
- Roverthe sitter network our clients already use — we teach them how to brief one
- Chewythe default supply chain; we care what goes in the bowl, not the unboxing
- Dogsterowner-facing training and lifestyle writing in the same neighborhood as us
- Whole Dog Journalthe evidence-minded training publication we still subscribe to
From people we work with
Leash manners in three weeks of homework, not a magic weekend. My shoulder stopped hurting.
They sent us to the vet first. It was pain, not 'dominance.' Then training actually worked.
Cat stopped peeing off the box after a diet and a second litter. I had been buying sprays.
